Poundbury Cyclesport opened its doors in March of 2010 - a new shop to start a new decade in the lovely county of Dorset, England. Its location in Poundbury, on the outskirts of Dorchester, is perfect for the cycle enthusiast. Off-road mountain biking is never far away, and the small roads and laneways of southwest Dorset call out to be explored by bicycle - the Dorset scenery and challenging terrain never disappoints. For the casual tourer, aspiring racer or fast club rider there are numerous clubs in the area.
Poundbury Cyclesport was founded by good friends, cycling companions and former co-workers:
- Darren Matthews - Local man, master wheel-builder and cycle mechanic who loves nothing better than to cycle be it road or mountain bike.
- Joe Diomede - New Yorker, long-distance cycle tourer, lover of small people-friendly businesses.
- Heidi Gould - Raised in Dorchester, a keen mountain biker and road cyclist who brings that feminine touch to the shop.
The three partners hope to add a different dimension to the ever-growing cycling world which already exists in the Dorset area.

We stock parts, accessories, and have full workshop facilities to service any make or model of bicycle. We also carry Gary Fisher and Orbea Bikes - two extensive bike lines which complement each other perfectly. Gary Fisher is one of the founding fathers of modern-day mountain biking and his love of the sport is apparent in his entire American-style bike line-up. The worker-owned cooperative of Orbea bikes - based in the heart of the Pyrenees in northern Spain - brings a touch of the European passion for cycling into the heart of Dorset. Darren and Joe bring nearly 30 years experience in the bicycle trade to Poundbury Cyclesport. They fully stand behind the products they sell, and along with the excellent warranties and guarantees given by Fisher and Orbea bikes, all bicycles purchased from Poundbury Cyclesport come with 13 months free servicing!
Starting small and letting the area's cycling needs shape how the business moves on into the future is an exciting way to let the shop understand its customer base, while letting the customers feel part of the shop.
